“The wedding advice I always give is to make planning fun! Go to all the bridal events, try on as many dresses as possible, drink lots of champagne… And with the jobs you know are going to be boring, work out how to make them fun – you only do this once so enjoy every single second!” — Kendra Leaver, Retail Editor & Events Director, Brides

Advice From The Expert

London-based events guru Knot & Pop is an expert in making the wedding fairytale a reality. Founder Susie Young shares her advice for the picture-perfect day.

  • Plan a song for the road! You’ll have instantly thought about a first dance, but it’s also fun to have a song to gather everyone together for a big send off.
  • Book a ‘mini-moon’, with the main honeymoon booked in for a later date. This allows you a couple of days to decompress!
  • Look to other sources – design sites and magazines such as Sight Unseen, Elle Decoration and This Is Colossal – for inspiration. You never know where an idea will spark from.
  • Don’t forget to get wedding insurance and enter into contracts with suppliers. All too often we hear of couples getting into trouble having not got the necessary terms and conditions or copies of public liability insurance documents.
