ROSES ARE RED, VIOLETS ARE BLUE, WE CAN'T DECIDE ON FLOWERS, WHAT SHOULD WE DO?
Embrace seasonality and go with flowers that are going to be their most beautiful at the time of your wedding. Shoehorning out-of-season flowers into your wedding just because you love them ends up looking incongruous and you will always compromise on quality. I would start with your color palette and chat with your florist – don’t be alarmed if they're not flowers you know of, or would never have considered for your wedding. We get to tinker about with them all year round – I promise we know what we’re doing!

THE DINNER SEATING PLAN IS PROBABLY EVERY COUPLE’S MOST DISLIKED TASK! AS SOMEONE WHO WORKS ON A LOT OF EVENTS, WHAT'S YOUR ADVICE FOR APPROACHING IT?
Even though they are tricky and time consuming I would always suggest having a seating plan; free-for-all seating fills me with dread. I strongly suggest resisting the urge to sit all the besties together – rowdy cliques dominating tables are no fun at all, especially if you aren't part of that ‘in crowd’. So, I always say to mix it up! Who knows, you might just be the catalyst of a future life-long friendship!

WHEN IT COMES TO WEDDING FAVORS, WHAT MAKES THEM PARTICULARLY MEMORABLE?
I worked on a wedding where we pressed flowers to be used in a beautifully illustrated order of service. It was pretty enough to frame, which I thought was a lovely memento. I think you need to strike a balance between giving something which is cherishable, but not something that you would be upset about should the guests ‘forget’ to take them away. Florals are obviously always a winner in my eyes – how about homemade lilac syrup? It’s delicious in both perfume and taste and can be added to English sparkling wine for a heavenly summer spritz!

ADVICE FROM CELEBRITY MAKEUP ARTIST MARY GREENWELL

  • On your wedding day, you want to look as natural as possible. It’s not the time to start practicing a new makeup look!
  • An absolute must: waterproof mascara. Whether you’re a guest or the bride, you are going to cry. In fact, go for waterproof everything!
  • Do put some lovely shimmer powder or cream on your shoulders, décolletage and cheeks – but be careful not to wear too much blush.
  • If you take the time to do your makeup properly, it should look good all night, so all you need in your clutch is a lipstick, a mirror and your phone.
