The fine craftsmanship and luxury fabrics at the brand’s heart have been reworked in a wearable autumnal palette mixed with a pop of brights. We caught up with the design powerhouse herself to talk about the exciting new launch, as well as what inspires her and brings her joy.
WHAT ARE THE HERO PIECES THAT YOU RETURN TO EACH SEASON?
A classic tailored jacket for sure – we’ve created this great checked style for the capsule that’s so versatile. You can throw it over a dress, with a T-shirt and jeans or with a shirt and tailored trousers for something a little smarter.
WHAT ARE YOUR TOP THREE PICKS FROM THE COLLECTION AND WHY?
The checked trench, it feels like a fresh take on a really classic silhouette. Then I love the cobalt blue pieces – the dress and the knit – it’s such a bold colour it makes even the simplest of pieces feel statement.
WOULD YOU AGREE THAT YOUR DESIGNS ARE CLASSIC, TIMELESS AND WELL-CONSTRUCTED SO IN SOME WAYS ALREADY SUSTAINABLE?
Definitely. Our pieces are designed to become staples in our customer’s wardrobes. We work with the very best materials and factories to ensure that everything we create is of the highest quality and made to last. The majority of this collection was created using existing fabrics from our archive. They’ve been carefully selected and repurposed. We’ve reimagined some of our signature silhouettes with new design details – it’s a celebration of our past with a forward-looking approach.
WHAT INSPIRED THIS COLLECTION?
The sustainable element was hugely inspiring. It was a chance to celebrate all of the Victoria Beckham signatures in a new way and see some of our archive fabrics in a new light. I’m always drawn to the 70s and you’ll see subtle nods to that in some of the silhouettes and colour palette too.
WHAT WOULD YOU WEAR TO LIFT YOUR SPIRITS AND FEEL FABULOUS?
A strong blazer and a high heel. You feel instantly put together, even if you’re only wearing jeans and a T-shirt.
AND FINALLY, WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
So much. I love modern art and I always find a visit to a new exhibition or gallery really inspiring. We recently went to a brilliant immersive experience in Miami which had huge projection, light and mirror installations, which instantly sparked some ideas for prints.
