MARY KATRANTZOU
Born in Athens, Mary Katrantzou studied Architecture at Rhode Island School of Design and graduated with a BA in Textile Design and an MA in Fashion from Central Saint Martins in London. She currently lives and works in the British capital. Her graduation show in 2008, which featured trompe l’oeil prints of oversized jewelry on jersey-bonded dresses, took the industry by storm. After her graduation show, she established her namesake brand.
Katrantzou was dubbed ‘The Queen of Prints’ by the press, a moniker that recognized the enormous influence of her work in the medium. In her designs, she plays with clashing aesthetics, mixes technology and craftmanship and explores opulent, innovative embellishments. The designer’s world is feminine, cultivated, fresh and elegant.
Katrantzou has received various prestigious awards throughout her career, including the Swiss Textiles Award, the British Fashion Award for Emerging Talent, the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund and the British Fashion Award for New Establishment Designer. She has collaborated with the likes of Atelier Swarovski, Longchamp, Moncler and Adidas Originals. Her erudite approach has won her a global customer, and quickly established her as a sought-after luxury designer.
