BACK TO BOHO
With each new season, comes a renewed sense of nostalgia for a fashion era gone by. This fall/winter 2024, boho is back and better than ever, led by Chloé’s floaty silhouettes, high-waisted denim and cascading ruffles. Isabel Marant and Marant Étoile’s signature artsy globetrotter aesthetic has never looked more relevant with easy-to-wear looks offering Parisian nonchalance. Zimmermann’s whimsical elegance captured the mood perfectly, while heritage houses such as Etro ramped up the romance a la bohème.
For a sophisticated dawn-to-dusk take on the trend, pair a printed mini dress with ankle boots from Stuart Weitzman. Transition the look into evening with a flowy dress or maxi skirt topped off with gold jewellery.
Keep the boho energy grounded (and modern) by wearing earthy toned floaty blouses with straight-leg denim – the perfect juxtaposition for light, airy fabrics. Flares are a favorite this season, but team with a hoodie or T-shirt rather than anything too billowy. Don’t be afraid to mix your textures (think lace, suede, and crochet), but avoid wearing them all at once – keep one plain element to your outfit to keep it contemporary rather than costume.

THE BELTED COAT
If there’s one investment piece every capsule closet needs it’s a belted coat. Consider multiple iterations in a variety of fabrications — wool, leather, shell, or cashmere — to serve different climates and occasions.
Opt for a classic trench for everyday wear with sneakers for weekends and brogues for work. Stand Studio’s signature sumptuous style in the season’s loved wide-shouldered silhouette work just as hard dressed-down as it does dressed-up with a pair of heeled boots from Jimmy Choo and sparkling earrings from Oscar de la Renta. Leather and faux leather offer a sturdier, water-resistant alternative to a cotton or wool coat, and is the easiest way of transforming a relaxed jumper-and-jeans combination. Whatever version you select, this outerwear classic will add instant polish to all your winter looks.
DRESSED-UP DENIM
Denim takes new form every season and for FW24 it was given a dressed-up makeover. It’s time to invest in a go-to pair of sleek jeans that you can style for the office and after-dark, as well as for every-day.
How to perfect denim for work? The key to elevating this wardrobe essential is a dark wash - look to FRAME for strong options. To complete your boardroom-appropriate look, layer your jeans under a crisp white shirt and a blazer, all finished off with a pair Jacquemus mules.
The iconic denim jacket took on a more refined air this season, either in more streamlined shapes or belted at the waist. Double denim also made a welcome comeback. Match a denim jacket by GANNI to jeans for the full Canadian tuxedo effect or tuck an indigo denim shirt into a high-waisted denim skirt from Derek Lam 10 Crosby for an outfit with day-to-night appeal.
Speaking of after-dark, this season we’re all about statement denim— don’t be shy of oversized proportions or a jean jumpsuit from Loulou Studio. Alternatively, wear a metallic-detailed pair with a figure-skimming bustier top from SIMKHAI for failsafe date night cool.
Finish the look with an investment bag and exude low-key elegance.
