Extending the life of luxury is in our heritage. THE OUTNET has offered past-season products since 2009, providing new opportunities for timeless luxury. Going forward, our steps are to contribute holistically to a more considered, sustainable, and circular future for fashion.

‘Considered’ is what we commit to be on our long-term sustainability journey. We attempt to achieve this by: making responsible products more available to customers, creating a more informative journey to enable conscious shopping, using technology to empower more circular solutions and nurturing our community. Our aim is to reduce our environmental impact and inspire our community to adopt a more responsible approach through four considered commitments.

BUYING

Through our buying strategy, we are driving a positive change by sourcing and collaborating with brands who are committed to supporting circularity, diversity and innovation. We are proud to have partnered with labels like E.L.V. DENIM, Les Rêveries and Nanushka, to create upcycled capsules from archive or existing resources.

PRODUCT BADGING & FILTERS

Brands and products which align with our sustainability and circularity principles are highlighted on site with a ‘Considered’ badge. These items are either rated with an exemplary score on Good On You or are upcycled.

RECYCLED MATERIALS

These products are made from at least 50% recycled materials, which means less water and energy has been used and fewer CO2 emissions have been generated.

LOWER-IMPACT MATERIALS

These products are made from at least 50% of lower-impact materials grown and produced with a significantly reduced environmental footprint, such as better farming practices and closed-loop production systems.

ORGANIC MATERIALS

These products are made from at least 50% organic materials, grown from non-genetically modified seeds without the use of pesticides and synthetics fertilizers. This reduces harm to the land where it grows and those who work to grow it.

CONSIDERED PROCESSES

These products are manufactured using processes or technologies that significantly reduce environmental impact in terms of reducing use of resources, reducing pollution, or supporting healthy ecosystems.

RATED BY GOOD ON YOU

We have partnered with Good On You to allow customers to choose responsible fashion brands that do good. The products are made from labels that score ‘Great’ or ‘Good’ on the platform.

UPCYCLED

These products are upcycled, which means they have been redesigned from archive or excess fabric, or from existing products or components to create something new and unique.

PLANET POSITIVE

We are on a mission to reduce our impact on the environment through better packaging options and carbon offsetting. We now provide information at checkout on the lowest carbon footprint delivery options and our deliveries are also compensated for through our Group’s carbon offsetting program.

REPAIR AND RESALE SERVICES

THE OUTNET has collaborated with two expert services to help you extend the life of your pieces and keep luxury fashion in circulation for longer.

Our Care & Repair Service (UK only): Give your closet favorites the TLC they deserve. We have partnered with online repair and alterations service, The Seam to help connect you to a community of trusted clothing care and repair specialists.

Our Resale Service: If you love something, set it free. We have partnered with leading resale technology provider Reflaunt, so you can resell your pre-loved designer pieces. Reflaunt’s team will help you give new life to your items hassle-free – its experts will look after the listing and get in-touch with a quote. Once your pieces have sold, receive payment as THE OUTNET store credit, with an additional 10% added and reinvest in looks you love.

CARE GUIDES

We develop comprehensive clothing care guides that encourage and give practical tips to empower longer-lasting fashion, in support of our core values.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION

In order to accelerate and empower positive change at THE OUTNET, we are committed to:

Representing diversity on our site and across all marketing channels to ensure that all our audience feels included and welcomed. We are ensuring and measuring diverse talent representation, including models, influencers and those featured within our Editorial content.

Creating a more inclusive workplace from within. Many of our colleagues have joined employee resource groups (Women in Tech, LGBTQ+ and Ethnicity) that sit within the YOOX NET‑A‑PORTER GROUP. The leaders of these communities along with Executive-level sponsors, also lead our Diversity and Inclusion Council to help us drive progress.

CHARITY PARTNERSHIP

We want to give back to our global community and it’s essential that we are part of a positive change to society and make a meaningful impact.

In honor of Earth Day 2024, THE OUTNET announced its support of DIRT, Arizona Muse’s environmental charity dedicated to regenerating soil and biodynamic farming initiatives. Our contribution goes towards DIRT’s Education Fund, which supports a global network of Biodynamic Education Centers and Biodynamic Colleges around the world to educate farmers in regenerative agriculture.

In recent years, THE OUTNET has further expressed its support for community and partnered with Women for Women International on Giving Tuesday and a selection of vital female-focused charities, including Smart Works, Sistah Space, and more.

OUR PLEDGE

THE OUTNET’s pledge is to be considered in everything that we do. We strongly hope our commitments and actions will have an enduring and meaningful impact on the fashion industry and how people shop luxury.

THE OUTNET’s Considered Pledge is supported by the YOOX NET‑A‑PORTER Infinity strategy to 2030. Infinity is designed to advance a more sustainable, circular and inclusive fashion industry, connecting people with the joy of luxury and fashion that lasts a lifetime and beyond. The aim of Infinity is to deliver lasting luxury fashion that leaves an enduring positive impact through four focus areas and 12 commitments.
