While most of us are still unable to travel, that doesn’t stop our minds from migrating south for the winter. More specifically, to South Africa and it’s coastal capital of Cape Town. From it’s cloud-scraping Table mountain to the the powder-soft beaches and bustinling harbours — Australian photographer and travel guru Rhiannon Taylor talks us through what she loves most about the Mother City: “Cape Town is, in my opinion, is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It literally has everything. Spectacular mountains, pristine beaches, an incredible food scene and it’s all surrounded by some of the best wineries in the world. The great thing about the region is that the best wineries are conveniently located within about a 45-minute drive from the city. Franschhoek is a great starting point and bursting with some of my favorite spots. Cape Town is so pretty and varied: Bo Kaap is one of my favorite neighborhoods to explore. The brightly colored houses and cobblestones streets is one of the oldest surviving residential neighborhoods in Cape Town and home to a historic, multicultural community. Then a 10 minute drive around the mountain and you’re in Camps Bay where the houses are white washed and grand with views over the sparkling ocean. My ideal day here would be a morning swim in Clifton followed by lunch at a winery in Stellenbosch, then catching the sunset up one of the many mountain hikes and dinner on the bustling Waterfront...”

Cape Town Style Is…

“Locals in Cape Town have mastered the art of relaxed dressing whilst still being effortlessly polished. Lots of breezy dresses in natural fabrics and smart sandals are key. Summer can get really hot and everyone ends up at the beach at the end of a warm day so keeping things unfussy is essential. Everyone in Cape Town has a favorite local artisan jewelry or accessory brand, too. So, there’s lots of layering bracelets, earrings and necklaces. Long, floaty dresses — perfect for whipping on and off at the beach — and very forgiving after a winery lunch. It’s warm almost year round so definitely the kind of place where comfortable, breathable footwear is a must. And big shades!”
