I was calling because I needed to know, how do you make sure you stay stylish while you’re juggling everything in your schedule?
AV: Well, that’s a tall order, but I do it in a few different ways. It just depends on what I’m getting dressed for.
How long would it take you to get ready?
AV: Is this pre-shower or after shower? I would say that once I’m showered and ready to get dressed, it takes me all of five minutes.
What would you say is the first thing that you do when you’re getting dressed?
AV: Put on my underwear and bra… You never want to leave home without your underwear! I mean, maybe, actually. I work out almost every single day, so I put on my workout gear. I have a dedicated drawer just for my workout gear, with my leggings and my jog bras and the little tank tops and t-shirts that I like to wear.
Do you basically wear the same thing every day?
AV: No, that would be gross! I change every day, but I basically have the same kind of looks that I like and variations of it.
And is that how you approach the rest of your wardrobe as well?
AV: Yeah, I definitely have versions of the things I like. I have a ton of jackets; everything from jean jackets, leather jackets, army jackets, a cool pink and black checked Prada jacket, I love my stitched Gucci jacket that I wore to the last Super Bowl, and I have a lot of vintage. I love throwing in a vintage piece here and there, just because it feels like I’m expressing my individuality.
Would it be accurate to say that you spend so much of your job being glamorous that you actually prefer to be more casual in your day to day?
AV: It’s not that I prefer to be more casual, it’s just that it’s a lot of effort to work a look when I’m already doing that all day long for my job. I’ll be really honest with you, when I see the editors and the bloggers that go to the shows and they have a whole cool look, I admire it, but I feel like if I did that, people would look at me and be like, ‘what is she doing?’. I really dig it, but I like to be cool and comfortable and easy and just kind of slide in. I am sitting in my closet, and –
Wait a minute, you’re sitting in your closet?
AV: Well, I am crouched on the floor! But I’m going to tell you something. So recently, my boyfriend and I moved in together, and one of the requirements was a really big closet – it’s really cool. You’ll have to come and see it when you’re here next.
That sounds cool.
AV: We can have lunch in here.
I’ll bring a picnic.
